University District Food Bank | Community Agreement

We will work together to provide a safe space to everyone in our community by:

  • Refraining from violence, harassment, or discrimination based on race, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability. or other kinds of identity.

  • Respecting people, their property, and service animals while at the food bank.

  • Creating a welcoming space for everyone by communicating as clearly and calmly as possible.

  • Seeking to understand and meet the needs of everyone entering our space.

  • Working together to create and understand policies that are fair to everyone.

  • Abstaining from smoking, vaping, or using drugs within 25 feet of the food bank.

  • Welcoming service animals and finding other accommodations for pets while visiting the food bank.

  • Keeping any weapons and hazardous materials away from the food bank.

  • Reporting any issues regarding safety or behavior to a food bank staff member, who will respond quickly and appropriately.

We will work together to respect our neighbors and our neighborhood by:

  • Not parking in our neighbors’ lots or the food bank driveway.

  • Keeping cyclists safe by not parking in the bike lane. Helping to keep our neighborhood free from litter.

  • Leaving space for pedestrians on the sidewalk.

We will work to be mindful of the needs of everyone using the food bank by:

  • Respecting customer time and keeping shopping time to 20 minutes to limit wait time.

  • Respecting people while waiting to check in via their appointment time or online waitlist.

  • Shopping into a UDFB shopping cart, not a personal bag or cart (personal bags and carts can be stored behind the check-in desk while shopping).

  • Respecting shopping limits so that the food bank can provide food to everyone throughout the week.

  • Respecting boundaries of the food bank by not entering areas that are off limits or entering the personal space of others.

  • Respecting food bank hours and staff and volunteer time (to-go bags are distributed for 30 minutes after closing).
