University District Food Bank’s Roosevelt Pantry offers fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy, eggs or frozen meat, canned and dried goods, toiletries, baby formula, diapers and pet foods. In addition to free food, we can connect you to additional resources, such as ID Vouchers and mail service.

Make a reservation or get in our waitlist in person or online. For those arriving before we open who do not have a reservation, you will be given a random number.

We are a low barrier organization and have no income or location requirements and we do not require ID. We will simply ask the following:

Our waitlist closes promptly when we close. Ready-made boxes and to-go bags will be available for 30 minutes after we close.

Closures

The food bank is closed on the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving day and the Friday after it
  • Christmas Day

We are also closed the second Friday of every month. Any other closures will be announced on our homepage.

Frequently Asked Questions

Many groups of people need food bank services, like those without sufficient income
to meet their basic food needs, those who aren’t sure how they will afford their next
grocery store trip, people without stable housing who can’t access regular meals,
and people in a temporary situation like job loss that might find themselves in need
of extra assistance.
Yes, everyone is welcome to shop at any food bank in Washington state.

If you have access to a cooking facilities, especially with a refrigerator, we ask that you only come once a week. Those without access to a refrigerator may come once each day we are open.

We implement quantity limits to help manage our inventory effectively,
ensuring that everyone who comes to the food bank has access to the food
they need throughout the day and week. Our resources are finite, and
demand often exceeds what we can provide, so these limits help us serve
as many households as possible, no matter what day or time they visit.

30 Minute Shops

We ask that you respect customer time and keep shopping time to 30 minutes to limit wait time.

Respect Shopping Limits

It is important that we all respect shopping limits so that the food bank can provide food to everyone throughout the week.

Shop into Provided Carts

Please shop into a UDFB shopping cart, not a personal bag or cart (personal bags and carts can be stored behind the check-in desk while shopping).

No Smoking

Please abstain from smoking, vaping, or using drugs within 25 feet of the food bank.

No Parking

Please do not park in the bike lane, in the food bank driveway, or in our neighbors’ parking lots.

No Violence or Harassment

We will refrain from violence, harassment, or discrimination based on race, gender, age, or other kinds of identity.
