Reminder

We ask that everyone shopping at the University District Food Bank leave their bags behind check-in while they shop. This includes rolling bags, backpacks, totes and large purses.

How secure are my items?

In general, items stored behind check-in have remained relatively secure. However, we are unable to guarantee security of items and ask that you leave important documents and other items at home, or that you put them in your cart or pockets while you shop.

Why do we have this policy?

While we trust that you will shop within our limits, there have been cases where customers take items above our limits and place them in bags. This is unfair and creates unnecessary conflict in our space. Additionally, we do not want a space where staff, volunteers and customers are policing each other’s behavior. Our hope is removing the possibility of some customers stashing items in their bags will create a space that is safer and more transparent.
